Sounds of Compassion

Out of the stillness, the Primordial Sound of Creation rises and falls with the rhythm of the Eternal Breath like waves upon the shore, emerging from and returning to the silence. This universal sound current or vibration that is present in all things is expressed in the sacred syllable Aum (Om). It is this sound vibration to which our bodies as instruments in the orchestra of the Divine Song of Life are tuned. It is the fundamental tone on which the harmony of all nature is built.

Many ancient cultures understood the dynamics of this Creative Force and employed Sacred Sound techniques as direct communication with the Divine. Based on the principles of nature, they created sacred instruments such as singing bowls, bells, and gongs as expressions of the Divine Aum (Om), rich with healing, harmonic overtones and resonant vibrations. In much the same way, our bodies have been crafted as divine instruments of sound and vibration. Through the cycles of our breath and the resonance of our voice, we become one with the universal vibration of Aum (Om), breathing, speaking, and vibrating our world into existence.

Additionally, these ancient cultures developed sonic formulas known as mantras, which were created from sacred syllables, words, and phrases. Each letter and syllable were believed to be aspects of creation itself. These ancient sound symbols are very powerful forms of meditation and prayer. They cultivate love and compassion, peace, harmony, and well-being at the most profound levels in those who focus upon them. The sacred syllable Aum (Om) is a fundamental mantra considered to be the source of all mantras.

Sacred Sound instills within each of us the ability to find that place of stillness where healing and transformation occur. Even in the midst of our busy everyday lives, it is only just a breath away. I invite you to join me on the Sacred Sound waves and journey into the stillness to discover this healing power for yourself.

SACRED SOUND

Among the many forms in which the human spirit has tried to express its innermost yearnings and perceptions, music is perhaps the most universal. It symbolizes the yearnings for harmony, with oneself and with others, with nature and with the spiritual and sacred within us and around us. There is something in music that transcends and unites.  This is evident in the sacred music of every community ~ music that expresses the universal yearning that is shared by people all over the globe.

What is Sacred Sound?

Great religious music of the East and West bestows joy, causing a temporary vibratory awakening, and in those blissful moments a dim memory comes to us of our divine origins.
